Where’s my pony?

Tonight we will look a gift pony in the mouth, make a sow’s ear out of a silk purse and take those lemons and squeeze them into an open wound. 😯

Wait, I have a better idea. Let’s celebrate a particularly good week for Progressives by inviting our furry friends to give us a tour de farce of left world.

Henrik Hertzberg in the New Yorker found two types of people on the left: the “disillusioned left, which is [almost] perpetually disillusioned because it has such an ample supply of illusions” and “liberals who continue to respect and admire Obama [and] who fully appreciate the disaster he inherited and the horrendous difficulty of enacting a coherent agenda even when your own party ‘controls’ both Houses of Congress”.

Wow, that sounds pretty thoughtful and coherent.

Let’s see what the critters have to say!

.

The left was demoralized

.

Watching the Republicans in the House seemed like one long bad hair day.

.

We already had seen glimpses of their ebil plot and knew nothing good would come of it.

.

To make matters worse, the Republicans had found an earnest and sincere face to sell their plan.

(What, that’s not him? Hmmm)
.

It seemed to not be enough to know that we were on the side of the right and good

.

Even though we had been sternly warned about the politics of the possible

.

The week started with excitement: “A speech? What will be in it? Something for me? A PONY?”

.

Then word got out that the speech would be All Wrong.
The disillusioned left was aflutter. They called all their friends.

.

They became sad again. Would “That Which I Have Counted On To Be Perfect” be less than “Everything I Expect”?

.

Lo! The day of the speech came. Turned out the speech was pretty darn good

.

But alas, for some it was Simply Not Enough

.

For others it was Simply Awful. Screams of “Where’s my pony?” could be heard across Frustratiland.

.

For the rest of us there was plenty in that speech to help us fill our bandwagon for 2012.

And for Progressives, our pony is a workhorse pulling that bandwagon.

Hop aboard! And bring your furry friends!
